Cassie Leigh Stafford is a 20 year old graduate of Palm Beach Community College with an Associate of Arts degree in Psychology. Cassie was raised in South Florida and attended Palm Beach Gardens High School where she graduated with honors.
Since early childhood Cassie has been actively involved in the arts and has had extensive training as both a singer and dancer. She has had the opportunity to showcase her talents as a Mouseketeer for Radio Disney and in 2008 she recorded her demo CD entitled Sphinx.
Cassies desire to make a difference has motivated her to become involved with numerous philanthropic organizations. Her passion is helping children to develop a positive self image. She is involved with numerous not for profit organizations dedicated to the education and prevention of eating disorders. In the spring of 2009 Cassie had the privilege of participating in the inaugural NEDA walk which was held in New York City. She has volunteered for Reaching Out Against Eating Disorders and is a volunteer with the Alliance for Eating Disorder Awareness. Most recently she has been working with H.O.P.E. Helping Other People Eat, an organization focused on the prevention and awareness of eating disorders founded by former Miss Florida Allison Krieger Walsh. Last year Cassie designed a coloring activity book with a grant awarded to her by Dare to Dream America to educate young people on maintaining a healthy body image. Today Cassie is developing a program that she hopes to implement into elementary and middle schools regarding the importance of a positive body image.
In August 2010 Cassie will attend Florida Atlantic University where she will pursue her bachelors degree psychology. She aspires to be a clinical psychologist specializing in eating disorders and body image.
Last year Cassie competed in the 2009 Miss Florida Pageant and had the honor of being named a top ten semi-finalist. On February 6, 2010 Cassie captured the title of Miss Florida Sunshine and will compete in the 75th Annual Miss Florida Pageant in July 2010 in St. Petersburg, Florida.
